BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Brett Christensen

President
Brett Christensen, MMM, CD, CTDP
Lieutenant, Canadian Forces (Navy)

Lieutenant (Navy) Christensen brings over 24 years of experience within the military. A Training Development Officer (TDO) in the Canadian Forces since 2005, Lt(N) Christensen completed a BCom (with distinction) at Royal Roads University (2003) and is currently enrolled in the MSc IPT at Boise State U. A Certified Training Development Professional (CTDP - 2006) through the Canadian Society of Training Development, he received the CSTD Canadian Gold Award for e-Learning in 2007. A member of the AFC-ISPI, ISPI, CSTD and the Canadian Forces Training Development Branch Association, he is also a former Canadian Forces lead for the AFC-ISPI SIG.

Lt(N) Christensen serves as an AFC Officer for three reasons: (1) While HPT has been slow to take hold within the Canadian Forces he is hopeful that with Canadian leadership in the AFC, HPT will gain more recognition and wider acceptance within the Training Development Field and the Canadian Forces as a whole; (2) He sees great potential in the AFC of ISPI and offers his enthusiasm and experience to help continue growing the AFC over his two year term; and (3) He is actively engaged in the field of HPT and believes that further involvement in the AFC-ISPI provides outstanding professional development opportunities.

Doug Craft

President Elect
Doug Craft

Chief Petty Officer, U. S. Coast Guard

I am currently serving as a Human Performance Analyst at the U.S. Coast Guard’s Performance Technology Center (PTC) in Yorktown, Virginia. At the PTC, I participate in a wide variety of performance improvement initiatives, including an in depth analysis of the training requirements for Coast Guard Port Security Units deployed to combat theaters in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. My current project involves researching and identifying the duties, tasks, and steps associated with safe and effective Polar Ice Diving, and recommending appropriate training interventions. My twenty-two years of active military service include tours in both the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Coast Guard.

I earned a B.S. Degree in Education from The Citadel, and a M.S. in Education from Indiana University. I am a member of ISPI and the Armed Forces Chapter of ISPI and presented at the 2008 ISPI Conference and the 2008 Indiana University Instructional Systems Technology Conference.

My desire to serve as the AFC President is rooted in the firm belief that the systematic application of Human Performance Technology principles is essential to solving many of the problems that today’s military must deal with, and that disseminating these principles across the widest possible spectrum of military leadership is essential to achieving that goal.

I have been married for over 21 years and have three sons. When not traveling the world solving performance problems, my home is in the Alleghany Highlands of Western Virginia.

Lloyd Long

Secretary/Treasurer
Lloyd Long
Command Master Chief, U.S. Navy

With 27 years active duty in the United States Navy, and 7 years of that as a Command Master Chief, I am qualified to serve as the AFC-ISPI Secretary/Treasurer.  I hold a MS in Instructional and Performance Technology from Boise State University, and memberships in AFC-ISPI and ISPI.

During my time with the US Navy and as a member of AFC-ISPI, I have had the pleasure of working with many of you, and many more professionals world-wide who share the same passion and desire to further performance improvement in a truly global environment.  As the Secretary/Treasurer of AFC-ISPI I can continue that path, and provide an important service to our membership at the same time.  In addition, my Navy heritage and unique experiences, along with project management that allowed me to use the fundamental principles of HPT have easily developed and prepared me for positions of greater responsibility and challenge.
